The Bible Says Christ Cannot Die Again. But Christ Ahnsahnghong Die?
"Life is like a fortune cookie." Some people apply this same philosophy to their knowledge of God and of the Bible. If the Bible were only John 3:16, then it would be enough to just believe in Jesus to be saved. Fortunately, it's not.
Like taking one verse of the Bible and only believing that's all that is needed for salvation, there are people who speak against the Church of God and irrationally put all their hopes on one verse, to try and deny that Christ Ahnsahnghong is the Second Coming of Christ. One of their favorite verses is this one:
Romans 6:9 - "For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him."
As people who take a quote from a fortune cookie and believe that it defines whole their life, those who are against the Church of God use this verse and say, "the Bible says that Christ cannot die again. But Christ Ahnsahnghong died. Then how can He be the Christ?"
Does this verse really mean that Christ Ahnsahnghong is not the Christ?
It bothers me sometimes to think how, because of one verse in the Bible that someone misinterpret, people can be led to believe things that are not true. Even denying God Himself Who came in the flesh. The entire scriptures testify that Christ Ahnsahnghong is the Second Coming of Christ. Therefore, Romans 6:9 cannot mean that Christ Ahnsahnghong is not Second Coming Christ. Then, what is the true meaning of this verse?
Break Your Concept!
Isaiah 43:11 - "I, even I, am Jehovah; and besides me there is no savior (ASV)."
According to this verse, written by the prophet Isaiah about 700 years before Jesus appeared on earth, it is very clear that there is no other Savior beside Jehovah. According to this, that would mean that Jesus, who appeared 700 years later, cannot be the Savior. With this one verse, it would be very easy to say, "since Jehovah said through Isaiah 43:11 that there is no other Savior besides Him, than Jesus Christ of Nazareth cannot be the Savior. In fact, by Him saying this, He's deceiving people with falsehood." Sadly, there are people who might be inclined to think this way.
Jesus fulfilled the prophecies of the Messiah that were in the Old Testament. So without a doubt, He was the Christ that appeared 2,000 years ago. Then what can we conclude? Once again, this verse in Isaiah was written about 700 years before Jesus Christ appeared on earth. When Isaiah wrote this, salvation could only be given through Jehovah God. So naturally, the only Savior at this time is Jehovah God. But by Jesus' coming, in other words God in the flesh who fulfilled all the Bible prophecies, we can recognize that after this time, Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. Therefore, there is no contradiction in with regards to Jesus and Isaiah 43:11.
"Okay. So What About Romans 6:9?"
So what about Romans 6:9? Here, Apostle Paul is giving a teaching to the Romans who are members of the Church of God. In this case, in order to understand what exactly what Romans 6:9 means, we have to see the full context of what Apostle Paul was explaining:
Romans 6:3-4 - "Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."
Here, the verses above are comparing the life of Christ - His death and resurrection - and how we who are in Christ will receive the same benefits. What else does it say?
Romans 6:5-9 - "If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection... Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him."
It is clear that what Apostle Paul is explaining is that since Jesus was resurrected, He will not die again; that Jesus, who resurrected from the dead, will live eternally. This was written in the Bible for us to understand that just as Jesus was resurrected and lives forever, those who belong to God will also be resurrected and live forever.
"Why Did Jesus Have to Do All of This? What Did He Want to Show."
Everything that Jesus did was an example for us, the people of God, to follow (1 Pet. 2:21; Jn. 13:15). Jesus was baptized (Luke 3:21); Jesus kept the Sabbath Day as His custom (Luke 4:16); He also kept the Passover of the New Covenant (Luke 22:13-15) and preached the gospel as well (Luke 4:43). All of these things He did as examples for us to keep and follow in his foot steps.
NOTE: Only the Church of God keeps these teachings of Christ faithfully among all the Churches (or other organizations) in the world. Meaning, only the Church of God keeps God's teachings and follows the example of Christ. The people that hinder the Church of God and Christ Ahnsahnghong don't keep any of these teachings of Christ. CAN THEY SAY THEY KNOW GOD IF THEY DON'T KEEP GOD'S COMMANDMENTS? CAN WE TRUST THAT IN WHAT THEY SAY THEY ARE EVER TELLING THE TRUTH? According to the Bible, the answer is an obvious NO (1 Jn 2:3-4).
Back on topic: When we look the teachings of Christ in the Bible, we can see that there are many verses through which Jesus explains and emphasizes the resurrection and the fact that we will not die.
Luke 20:35-36 - "But those who are considered worthy of taking place in that age and in the resurrection of the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage, and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God's children, since they are children of the resurrection."
1 Corinthians 15:54 - When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."
The Bible also speaks of the place where we will go to after the resurrection takes place; the Kingdom of Heaven, where there is no death (Rev. 21:4)!
Christ Ahnsahnghong Does Not Contradict Romans 6:9
Apostle Paul understood the significance of Christ death and resurrection, and also understood that this was an example for God's people about the future of those who believed in Christ and the resurrection. This is what he was trying to explain: Christ did not just die, but He was resurrected and lives eternally in heaven. Those who follow Christ's example on this earth, they too will be resurrected and live eternally in heaven (Romans 6:5).
In Isaiah 43:11, it is written that apart from Jehovah, there is no Savior. We understand that this was natural to say because at that time, he was the only Savior, and that this was applicable only up until Jesus came to earth as the Savior. In the same way, Romans 6:9 let's us know that Jesus, who was resurrected and went to heaven, cannot die again and death no long has mastery over Him. It has nothing to do with Christ's Second Coming in the flesh or His death.
Therefore, if Christ, who is in the immortal body in spiritual world, comes again in the flesh to this mortal world as it is prophesied in the Bible, would it make sense for Him not to live without being able to face death? It defeats the principles of nature, for someone not to be able to die. And being that He isn't in the resurrected body, but the physical body, it is only natural for Christ to undergo one of the natural occurrences in this life, which is death. After all, there are many Bible prophecies that testify that the Second Coming Christ has to pass away. You can learn these at your local World Mission Society Church of God.
Why Didn't Christ Ahnsahnghong Resurrect from the Dead Like Jesus?
Like the writer mentioned on thetruewmscog.com, I hear the same thing from people: "why didn't Christ Ahnsahnghong resurrect from the dead like Jesus did?" Let's clarify one thing. There are those who ask this question and don't even know why Jesus resurrected from the dead. There is one reason:
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 - "For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, and that he was raised on the on the third day according to the Scriptures."
Jesus resurrected because it was prophesied in the Scriptures.
So when people ask me, "why didn't Christ Ahnsahnghong resurrect from the dead just like Jesus did?"; I just ask them: "Can you show me in the Bible that Second Coming Christ is supposed to resurrect from the dead?" No one has come back to me with an answer.
